1. Does the machine require a water source or plumbing?
No. The machine operates independently and recycles its own water.
2. Does the machine require an electricity source?
Yes. It uses a 15A 3-pin plug (220V).
3. In which areas do you offer tank rentals?
We currently provide rentals and servicing across the greater Cape Town area and surrounds. Services will expand to Johannesburg in 2026.
4. How many oysters can the machine accommodate?
Both the square and curved models hold up to 300 medium or 500 cocktail oysters at a time.
5. What water does the machine run on?
The machine requires seawater. In Cape Town we use real seawater; in Johannesburg a seawater premix from aquaculture shops is suitable.
6. How much water does the machine require?
The tank requires 60 litres of seawater.
7. How often should the seawater be replaced?
It depends on stock levels and oyster condition. If a batch is unhealthy, replace immediately. Under normal conditions, a change every four months is adequate.
8. Do you sell second-hand oyster tanks?
Yes, when available. Prices vary according to age and condition. Please contact us to confirm availability.
9. Can the machine be moved?
Yes. The unit is fitted with wheels and only needs to be placed near a power socket.
10. Can I display my restaurant’s branding on the tank?
Yes. Many clients customise their tanks with branding. Examples are available in our gallery.
